Write letters of support for a prisoner coming up for parole who has been in solitary
confinement after refusing to give false testimony against members of the "Lucasville 5".
Derrick Mathews aka Kweisi Mugabe (Ohio prisoner # R142 546) needs letters of
support sent before June 15 to the Adult Parole Authority, Attn: Eric Griffith, Ohio
Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, 1050 Freeway Drive North, Columbus, OH
43229. You may choose to touch on any of these points: In 1987, he was sent to prison
at age 18 for stealing a jacket and sentenced to 5-25 years. After more than 20 years of
incarceration, Mugabe is far beyond the maximum guidelines for release by the Parole
Authority. After refusing to give false testimony against Lucasville uprising prisoners, he
was put in solitary confinement for 15 years and transferred to Ely, Nevada, far from
family and friends. He has worked hard to rehabilitate himself and has many certificates
for anger management and other
positive programs. He has the support of family, friends and the community. For more
information, call (216) 939-8888 or email bspringer06@ peoplepc. com.

Sign the electronic petition to Governor Strickland for the Lucasville uprising prisoners.

My son, Daoud Omar Boone has been
incarcerated for over a year here in
Alabama.   However, there has been no
indictment.
Please adjust your attention to this cause.
I am considering him as a political prisoner.  Please
request the transcript of my son's case
here.  Also note,
that as civil rights advocates we are under constant
surveillance.  We have been placed on the so called blacklist
but we continue to survive according to God's plan and
purpose.

Connect others to our cause if possible.

I want you to know that my son looks pale and sick.  He is
not eating.  He has been transferred from Lowdnes
County to Wilcox County.  He has scars on him where
apparently he has had to defend himself.  However, he
does say that it is quieter where he is  right now.  Every
turn I make is sabotaged by the forces around me--  How
long can a person be held without an indictment or
trial--You are the people's lawyer--Does this not seem
unfair to you--Who shall I write--Is there no justice without
a fee--How long must this injustice against my son be
allowed to stand?
CALL TO ACTION:
Support for Andre
Scott in Fayette
County Court
I am forwarding this to
anyone who has a
concern for injustice
anywhere to anybody.
Greetings Everyone,

We are asking for your support in
attending a court hearing for Andre
Scott (18) who was tried, convicted
and sentenced to four years ultimately
for allegedly organizing a fight
between two other boys in the
school's boy's bathroom. While
children shouldn't be fighting at
school, it should not be punishable by
school suspension rather than 4 years
in jail.

Allegedly Andre's sentencing was so
harsh because there were accusations
alleging that he was a member of a
"criminal street gang" and since
Georgia's Gang Laws defined "criminal
street gang activity" so vaguely, one
didn't have to be accused or guilty of any
criminal wrong doing to be tried and
convicted under that law.

The law was challenged and upheld in
the Georgia Supreme Court in January
'09, but the verbiage that defines
"criminal street gang activity" was revised
to at least require criminal wrong doing
so, consequently, Andre should have
been released since he was not charged
or guilty of any criminal wrong doing and
the only remaining accusation is
organizing a fight between two boys in the
bathroom - again - properly punishable
by school suspension not 4 years in jail.

However, Andre is still in jail and has
been there since December 3, 2008. His
attorneys have pushed for a hearing,
which will be held on March 12 and we
look to see you there with us. We have
no intension what so ever to be disruptive
or disrespectful to the court. We only
want to provide Andre and other youth
affected by this case with an example of
the correct posture one should have
when wronged and that is to stand with
him in support. So please adjust your
schedule on this morning to show your
support for this wrongful conviction and
feel free to share with others. See details
below.

Despite that the prisoners’ protest remained non-violent, the
DOC violently attempted to force the men back to work—
claiming it was “lawful” to order prisoners to work without
pay, in defiance of the 13th Amendment’s abolition of
slavery.  In Augusta State Prison, six or seven inmates were
brutally ripped from their cells by CERT Team guards and
beaten, resulting in broken ribs for several men, one man
beaten beyond recognition.  This brutality continues there.
At Telfair, the Tactical Squad trashed all the property in
inmate cells.  At Macon State, the Tactical Squad has
menaced the men for two days, removing some to the
“hole,” and the warden ordered the heat and hot water
turned off.  Still, today, men at Macon, Smith, Augusta, Hays
and Telfair State Prisons say they are committed to
continuing the strike.  Inmate leaders, representing blacks,
Hispanics, whites, Muslims, Rastafarians, Christians, have
stated the men will stay down until their demands are
addressed, one issuing this statement:

“…Brothers, we have accomplished a major step in our
struggle…We must continue what we have started…The
only way to achieve our goals is to continue with our
peaceful sit-down…I ask each and every one of my Brothers
in this struggle to continue the fight.  ON MONDAY
MORNING, WHEN THE DOORS OPEN, CLOSE THEM.  DO
NOT GO TO WORK.  They cannot do anything to us that they
haven’t already done at one time or another.  Brothers, DON’
T GIVE UP NOW.  Make them come to the table.  Be strong.
DO NOT MAKE MONEY FOR THE STATE THAT THEY IN
TURN USE TO KEEP US AS SLAVES….”

When the strike began, prisoner leaders issued the
following call: “No more slavery.  Injustice in one place is
injustice to all.  Inform your family to support our cause.
Lock down for liberty!”

Thousands of Georgia Prisoners Continue

Georgia Department of Corrections Escalates
Its Violent Response

On Thursday morning, December 9, 2010,
thousands of Georgia prisoners refused to work,
stopped all other activities and locked down in their
cells in a peaceful protest for their human rights.
The December 9 Strike became the biggest prisoner
protest in the history of the United States.
Thousands of men, from Augusta, Baldwin, Hancock,
Hays, Macon, Smith and Telfair State Prisons, among
others, initiated this strike to press the Georgia
Department of Corrections (“DOC”) to stop treating
them like animals and slaves and institute programs
that address their basic human rights.

They set forth the following demands:
