UNIA-ACL MARCUS GARVEY INTERNATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST RULES AND PROCEDURES Sponsored by: UNIA-ACL Department of Education 1)-The competition is open to All Black Children around the World from ages 9-17 (4th-12th) grades 2)-Entries should not be less than 300 words and should not exceed 600 words or 3(three)typewritten or handwritten double spaced pages. The Essay should be written or typed on standard (81/2 by 11) inch white paper 3)-An attached cover page must include student's name, school, grade, age and sponsoring teacher/ parent/ guardian 4)-Essays should reflect student's opinion of Marcus Garvey's and /or Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League's (UNIA-ACL) philosophy, with supportive evidence. They should choose one of three areas: 1-Garvey on Africa 2-Garvey in the Caribbean 3-Garvey in the United States 5)-Entries must be received by the by the Marcus Garvey International Essay Committee by April 19th 2010.
