How to Research Your Family
Ancestry.
It is very important that African
people document their family
lineage.  We cannot rely on anyone
else.  We must keep records for
the next generations.  There is a
wide variety of ways to get
information about your great great
grandparents and their parents.
Here are just a few ways you can
begin your research.
Record Keeping:
First get a large plastic folder that closes or a brief
case to keep all the information you need.
a. Decide whether you would like to research your
family on your mother's side or your father's side.
b. Talking to your relatives and getting information from
them is very important.  Please write it down as they
give your names and relations.
c. Find out what state and county or burrough they lived.
Write down all the locations.
d. Look at census records, marriage records, birth &
death certificates.
