Freedom for Dr. York
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.'S BIRTHDAY, A FEDERAL HOLIDAY,
VIOLATED!
Date: Friday June 18, 2010
____________________________________________________
“Project: Rise Up”
~Presents~
An Awareness Month
“CITIZENS AGAINST OFFICIALS VIOLATING THE LAW”

The newly formed group, “Project: Rise Up” will host an AWARENESS MONTH:
“CITIZENS AGAINST OFFICIALS VIOLATING THE LAW” A peaceful demonstration is
set for June 22, 2010 in Robert W. Woodruff Park, Auburn Ave NE, and Peachtree St.
NE, Atlanta, GA from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. A candlelight vigil will commence at 7pm
following the demonstration. This event will bring attention to violations of Martin
Luther King Jr.’s birthday, a Federal Holiday.

In addition to the violations of MLK’s Federal Holiday, the group’s objective is to bring awareness to
the violations and outrageous acts of those who have sworn to uphold, honor and enforce the law of
our Constitution, Treaties, and the rights of we the people of the United States of America. Officials
take oaths to administer the law in a fair and unbiased manner, but in the case of many, attempt to
administer their own biased opinions and prejudices in breach of their oaths of office and in
violation of the Law.

The campaign will highlight the violation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday by officials who chose to
contravene  the Federal Holiday law which is a direct violation of Title 5 USC § 6103, and Public Law, Section
2 98-144, by holding trial court on Martin Luther King’s Birthday, as well as a myriad of other Constitutional
violations.

“We will not stand by and allow them to disrespect Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy,” says one of the group’s
spokespeople. “They held court open to prosecute an innocent man. If we let them get away with
desecrating King’s birthday, we’ll allow them to destroy the movement, the dream, and the legacy of a great
man.
This act will set precedence for them to violate all other public holidays, as well as many other constitutional
rights. Next, they’ll be violating, Washington’s Birthday, Lincoln’s Birthday, Veterans Day and even
Independence Day! This issue affects us all! It is another example of corrupt public officials violating the law,
as opposed to protecting and respecting our Human, Constitutional, and Political Rights.”

The voice of liberation, impartiality and human rights for all people must resonate throughout the halls of
justice, as it once did in the early sixties. Let us emulate the great accomplishment of change, to
commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. and the 250,000 concerned citizens who marched on Washington for
civil and ultimately human rights. Project: Rise Up  is calling on support from people of all walks-of- life,
members of all communities, political, non-profit and grass roots organizations, corporations, local, national,
and international media, all radio stations, and all other concerned people to take action on this most
important matter. We must preserve the legacy of this great man and remind America that our Government
is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

“Citizens Against Officials Violating the Law” Awareness Month was formed in 2010 by a group of concerned
citizens who recognized the importance of bringing awareness and attention to violations of this great day,
as well as the violations of our Human, Constitutional, and Political Rights by those who are supposed to
protect our rights. We aim to take action to defend the rights of the people. Our goal is to ensure every
public official that is responsible for upholding our Constitution, Treaties, and the Laws of our country, does
just that! The group will also host a Worldwide Demonstration on Capitol Hill in Washington DC on August
27, 2010, just one day prior to the forty-seventh anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “March on
Washington”, which took place on August 28, 1963.
