| Dialysis Clinic is Closed Just a few hours ago, there was a very emotional news conference at Grady Hospital featuring several patients who will no longer receive their life-saving healthcare if the dialysis clinic is closed as scheduled on Sept. 20. Called by the Grady Coalition and Grady Advocates for Responsible Care, doctors, elected officials, healthcare advocates, the Guatamalan consulate and religious leaders demanded that the privatized Grady Board rescind this death sentence for poor patients and keep the clinic open. You are encouraged to attend the meeting of the Grady Board on MONDAY, Sept. 14 on the second floor of Grady Hospital beginning at 3:30pm. However, starting at 2:30 there will be a protest demonstration outside to make visible the community opposition to such an unacceptable policy of deliberately denying uninsured and underinsured people life-saving treatment. The protesters will march to the Board meeting at 3pm. |
